I can always tell that summer is fast approaching by the number of times that I’m asked about “the best sunscreens” in one week. Needless to say, it’s a lot.
It’s been said that most of the sun damage suffered by our skin actually happens before the age of 18, thanks to all that playing outdoors and lack of knowledge of its true dangers. But it’s also been proven that discolouration, wrinkles and skin cancers, all of which are exacerbated by sun exposure, occur gradually throughout your life.
I’ve been an passionate wearer of sunscreen for over eight years now; around the same time that I left foggy old London for Dubai’s sunny climes. And not just your standard factor 15; I’m talking full on SPF 50+ come rain or shine. In fact, I don’t even need to be leaving the house to slather on the sun protection.
Despite all the scientific evidence proving that sunblocks actively prevent skin cancer and more importantly, wrinkles and saggy skin (ha!) it’s one of the most ignored products in women’s skincare routines.
