sukin anti-pollution skincare

It’s no secret that toxic air is not only a health hazard, but can also wreak havoc on our skin, clogging pores and speeding up the signs of ageing. Luckily, anti-pollution skincare is here to save the day.

Due to rising levels of environmental pollution around the world, our complexions are exposed to a constant onslaught of exhaust fumes and heavy metals, as well as cigarette smoke and other chemical emissions in our surrounding atmosphere.

These pollutants generate free radicals on the surface of the skin which can lead to hyper-sensitivity. When the level of free radicals exceeds our natural defence mechanisms, the skin cells are placed in a state of oxidative stress. This can lead to a whole host of issues, ranging from sallow skin and hyper pigmentation to premature ageing.

Anti-Pollution Solution

Thankfully, skincare brands have jumped on the anti-pollution bandwagon and produced hard-hitting products that not only detoxify the skin, but also protect it from prospective damage. One such skin-saver is the Anti-Pollution Oil Balancing Facial Masque from Sukin. Hailing from Australia, this environmentally conscious brand uses ingredients that are 98.8% derived from natural sources. It’s also vegan, cruelty-free and uses recyclable packaging.

The masque is packed full of natural skin saviours, like bamboo charcoal to soak up impurities and tighten pores. It also contains rooibos, willowherb, and pomegranate extracts to invigorate and balance blemish-prone skin. And after using it twice a week for a month, I can vouch for all of the above. My face was smoother, brighter and less blotchy from first use. And thanks to the avocado and rosehip oils, my skin felt soft and hydrated, rather than tight and uncomfortable, which can often be the case when using clay masks or oil-balancing products.

It’s easily applied with clean fingertips. Or if you’re feeling bougie, use a clean foundation brush to spread a thin layer on your face and neck. Leave it for 15 minutes, (although I left it on for a bit longer until it had started to dry), then rinse with tepid water, or wipe off with a warm wash cloth for extra exfoliation. It’s as simple as that. A great go-to mask that gives dull skin a visible boost.
