All eyes were on Maria Chiuri for her debut show for Dior. In celebration of the brand’s first ever female creative director, the RTW Spring/Summer 2017 show had a strong message of female empowerment. So how does “girl power” translate into beauty?
No makeup makeup and a skater-girl topknot that set Instagram alight.
Created by hair guru, Guido Palau, the tidy topknot was embellished with four tight inverted braids that added texture and an element of cool to the back of the sleek, elegant look, in a simple yet feminine way.
To pull the fresh look together, Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, Peter Philips, presented models with clean, natural skin and delicate lips, accented with a touch of Dior’s Glow Pomade. For the eyes, Philips “curled the lashes, then applied the lightest shade from the “Coral” Colour Gradation palette across the eyelid. A line of Diorshow Khôl in beige inside the eye opened the eye, and as a finishing touch, a light coat of black Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara was applied to the tips of the upper lashes.” He adds, “Eyebrows were defined using the Diorshow Brow Styler for a naturally graceful look.”
All in all, the look was a balance of the romantic and the contemporary, ushering in a new era of a somewhat more relaxed and airy style at Chiuri’s Dior.
