Rosehip oil

The rose hip is somewhat of a legend in the beauty world. Much to the surprise of many, this raggedy fruit of the rose plant is a veritable skincare powerhouse.

For centuries, across Europe, Asia and North Africa, rose hips have been made in to teas, syrups and jellies and prized for their medicinal properties. When fresh, they can have more than 60 times as much vitamin C as one orange, they contain the plant-based provitamin A, which the body converts to vitamin A (the basis of all retinol products; hello anti-ageing!) as well as being rich in vitamin E and omegas 3, 6, and 9. This paramount blend of antioxidants makes the humble rose hip a skin-restoring super ingredient that’s worth its weight in gold. Not only does it stop lines, wrinkles and dark spots in their tracks, it can also help to reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks, making it a must-have for all mums-to-be.

The Must-Try Rose Hip Oil

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil

Some rose hip oils that I’ve come across have felt heavy and clogged up my skin; however The Ordinary’s 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil is decidedly different. It’s light, easily absorbed and doesn’t leave a greasy film on the skin. Think of it as a multivitamin for the face; or like a light cashmere sweater that you put on before you go out to face the elements- which in the UAE means the arctic AC in the malls. Massage it into clean skin to boost radiance, or repair chapped lips, stressed skin, and parched knees and elbows after a day at the beach. A few drops can balance, soothe, and hydrate, and give any skin type a beautiful glow when used under a moisturiser or when mixed with a foundation or BB cream.
