I’ve always had a scornful disdain for face wipes. My main gripe is that so many people use them in place of a proper daily cleansing routine. Whilst they are undoubtedly a “quick and easy” option, they’re no replacement for a good, deep-down clean with a balm or face wash.
It also irritates me that the beauty industry already plays a considerable part in destroying the environment. So I’m not a fan of pushing a needlessly disposable product that clogs drains and litters beaches when a perfectly effective- and recyclable- alternative, namely cotton washcloths, is readily available.
But I’ve reluctantly come to accept that face wipes do have their uses. For example when there’s limited access to water, when you’re on a long-haul flight or camping let’s say. Or when you come home exhausted after a long day or a particularly heavy night out, wipes are often the only thing stopping someone from sleeping with a full face of makeup, which is basically the ultimate beauty sin. I must admit that a cleansing wipe is much better than nothing at all.
I’ve tried and tested most wipes available on the market but I found these five to be very good in the event of being caught short. They remove makeup and grime effectively yet gently and don’t leave a sticky or greasy film behind. However, when it comes to using them, treat them like fast food – convenient and easy, but only as a once in a while indulgence.
Great post! I feel the same way about face wipes but I must admit I have been known to sleep with makeup on so I might consider buying a pack for those particularly lazy nights!
