I blame my dangerous addiction to lipstick on Mr. Ford. Tom Ford that is. One click of the weighty tube, a quick slick of the creamy, high-pigment colours and I was hooked. Not only did they break the price barrier (around the AED 360 mark for one tube), they sparked a new category in the world of beauty. A new age of luxury lip colour was born.

I could never pinpoint just one favourite shade of lippy, but when it comes to pulling out a couture option from my handbag, nothing quite makes a luxe impact like a classic, fire engine-red. If you’re looking to treat yourself, you can’t go wrong with one of these beauties.
Rouge Louboutin Velvet Matte Lip Color
Never has the world of beauty witnessed such a fuss as when this stunning piece of makeup magic was launched. Inspired by Middle Eastern antiquities and the Art Deco movement, this lipstick is meant to be cherished (and at AED 440, you’re gonna want to make the most of it!). Not only is it a gorgeous accessory, it has one of the most comfortable matte textures and richest pigments I’ve ever come across. It’s super smooth, non-drying and free from parabens, mineral oil and phthalate.
Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color
This is the brand’s first upper crust offering and somewhat cheaper than the competition but equally luxurious in my view. The glossy gold tube is home to creamy colour that moisturises lips and coats them in bold, vibrant shades. Special mentions for Atomic Orange and Hot Rose (pictured).
YSL Kiss & Love Rouge Pur Couture
I’m a sucker for embossed anything; but embossed lipstick? Well that’s literally my kryptonite. This limited edition option offers high-impact colour with silky textures that keep lips soft and supple. Let’s just take another moment to appreciate those embossed lips….

If MI5 made makeup, it might look something like this. A ridiculously elegant bullet that houses a secret mirror that magically appears as soon as the tube is opened. Aside from the palpitation-inducing casing, the colour itself is everything you could wish for in a lipstick. Rich pigments and a smooth formula that leaves lips feeling softer and looking plumper.
