After a well-documented friendship that has lasted well over two decades, Winona Ryder has been unveiled as the new face of bestie, Marc Jacobs‘ spring 2016 campaign, and her first ever appearance for a beauty brand .
Jacobs shared the first images on his Instagram earlier this month where the Heathers actress exuded a distinctly Sixties vibe, adding a lengthy caption stating: “It is with great pride (and pleasure) that I “leak” this image from our upcoming 2016 MARC JACOBS BEAUTY campaign. Photographed here by David Sims and styled by Katie @kegrand, it stars my dear friend (of over two and a half decades), the stunningly beautiful and extraordinarily talented, Winona Ryder. Mesmerized by this image and her look- created by Diane (Kendal) @diane.kendal (using our fine liner eye crayon, velvet noir mascara and new nudes lipstick) and hair by Guido @guidopalau.”
Inspired by one of his favourite films, The Last Year at Marienbad, Jacobs used “the flawless cool, elegant and timeless chic of actress Delphine Seyrig” as a key reference for the campaign images. As the next in a long line of unique, ageless muses, and with Nineties beauty nostalgia in full swing, I for one can’t wait to see more of this exciting collaboration.
