So after months of following the social media makeup “gurus” and long hours spent perfecting the art of razor-sharp cheekbones and hyper-sculpted faces, it seems we can bid the art of contouring adieu.

Much to the chagrin (I imagine) of the Kardashian clan, strobing has been making the rounds since its appearance on the SS 2015 runways. This new term for what is essentially mega-watt highlighting, gives skin an extra-dewy, youthful shimmer that has been hailed as the counter-trend to extreme contouring.

With both these trends, cream formulations have taken centre stage thanks to their easily-blended textures that seemingly melt in to the skin. But these can be tricky to master, particularly at 7am in the mad, pre-work rush, with a Beauty Blender in one hand and a mug of coffee in the other.

Enter Tom Ford to save the day. The Skin Illuminating Powder Duo is by far one of my favourite complexion launches of recent times. The ultra finely-milled powder gives the prettiest, most unassuming glow; even if you’re not fond of sparkle, you’ll be hard-pressed not to like this. The ivory shade has been designed to mimic the soft light of day, whilst the bronze is meant to give the illusion of candlelight. Whether you choose to use them individually as you would a traditional highlighter and bronzer combo or layer them for a multi-dimensional effect, the result is skin so radiant that it seems lit from within.

Whilst this new form of face enhancement may require an intensive skincare routine, the resulting heavenly glow is definitely worth going the extra mile.

Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo is available as of October 2015 at all Tom Ford Beauty counters across the Middle East.
