Makeup with Built in Primer

I love primer, I love makeup. Primer plus makeup? Well that’s a time-saving dream come true isn’t it? Multi-tasking products are wonderful; those little touches of technical magic just bring joy to my makeup-loving heart.

The concept of makeup with built-in primers is an idea that has admittedly been slow on the uptake. There’s been the odd brand here and there that has introduced products with added primer, namely foundation, but I think it’s a concept that’s set to develop massively and increase in popularity in the coming seasons. Here are three of my current favourites.

Dior Fix It Pro 2 in 1 Prime & Conceal

Dior Pro Fix It 2-in-1 Prime & Conceal

This magical little corrector made its world debut backstage at the Dior Fall 2015 show, where makeup maestro Peter Philips used it to hide imperfections and bring light to models’ skin. You can use it to correct your complexion, camouflage redness, erase dark circles and even neutralise and even out your lip colour. As it’s the size of a lipstick, you can carry it in your handbag for touch-ups throughout the day. A definite must-try this season.

MAX FACTOR FACEFINITY ALL DAY FLAWLESS 3-IN-1 FOUNDATION

Max Factor FaceFinity 3-in-1 Foundation

This was one of the first makeup products with built-in primer to hit the market. Not only is it a brilliant foundation (it gives flawless coverage and last hours), but it also primes your skin and you can use it to conceal blemishes and dark shadows. It’s been a regular in my makeup draw since its launch in 2013 and it’ll probably be on my favourites list for quite some time to come.

Clinique Pop Lip Color & Primer- Poppy Pop

Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer

If I’m honest, I’m not entirely convinced that lips need priming. Nevertheless this lipstick has great pigments and a lovely, rich formula that contains Shea and Murumuru butters that hydrate lips and keeps them looking plump for hours. If you love standout shades, try Poppy Pop (pictured) or Cola Pop which is a beautiful shade of marsala red-brown.

Have you tried any of these? What did you think?
