Located in the heart of Business Bay Dubai, The Oberoi Spa and Wellness Centre provides a welcome respite to the rush of the city’s business district outside.
The spa is chic and comfortable, with the smell of frangipani filling the air and red rose petals scattered on surfaces for a discreet touch of luxury. There are seven private therapy rooms each equipped with a steam shower and personal washroom. The spa has clearly been designed with busy people in mind as it’s open from 9am to midnight, with the gym operating 24 hours a day.
There are numerous massage styles on offer; from Western to Balinese and Thai but Ayurveda is where this spa shines. The Indian hotel chain specialises in Ayurvedic therapies and the signature indigenous treatments come highly recommended. There is a specially dedicated Ayurveda room with a stunning therapy table. Made from neem wood and engraved with traditional Indian designs, it’s a beautiful centre piece in its own right.
The spa uses natural skincare brand, Sodashi for all facial and body treatments, with earthy fragrances amplifying the feeling of zen. I experienced the 60 minute signature Oberoi massage. My therapist was exceptional, her attentiveness and determination to rid my shoulders of tension whilst maintaining her infectiously calming demeanour was outstanding.
There are no common relaxation areas but you are encouraged to take a herbal tea post-treatment in the comfort of your private suite, whilst still resting on the treatment bed, which FYI was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever come across.
Whilst this spa may not have the overt lavishness of many spas in the UAE, their attention to detail, warm and friendly staff and highly skilled therapists make it well worth the visit.
