The Dior Addict story has been a long one in the making. The Dior Addict Eau de Parfum which launched 2012, was a reinterpretation of the original Addict from 2002. 2012 saw two more editions added to the Addict narrative, Dior Addict Eau Fraiche (one of my all time favourites fragrances) and Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle. A year after that Dior Addict Eau Delice made an appearance. Now, master perfumer, François Demachy, presents his latest creation, Dior Addict Eau de Toilette with precious and unexpected new ingredients.
The Notes
Top: Sicilian Mandarin
Heart: Jasmine Sambac, Tunisian Neroli
Base: Sandalwood Essence, Vanilla
The Scent
Vivid and effervescent, the opening of this fragrance is instantly reminiscent of its predecessors. Heady, white blooms are softened with a comforting and familiar touch of vanilla. But the attraction in this version lies in the unique and surprisingly rich dry down. Owing to Demachy’s choice of Sandalwood Essence, one of the perfume world’s most sought-after notes, the scent is enhanced with an earthy warmth, leaving behind it an exotic woody signature. Unlike other perfumes in the Dior Addict family whose sparkling scent fades relatively quickly, this version warms on the skin and lasts significantly longer.
In my opinion, the eclectic after-smell is a very welcome twist for those that tend to shy away from traditionally “girly” scents. It’s fresh yet bold, feminine yet strong and most definitely- addictive.
Dior Addict Eau de Toilette is set to launch on June 1st 2015 across the Middle East.
