Whether it’s freezing, sub-zero temperatures or tempestuous sand storms, the elements have been a little crazy of late. And of course such extreme weather conditions wreak havoc on even the most hardy of complexions. I’m a little obsessed with facial masks at the moment and I’ve found that so many brands offer excellent quality options to replenish, moisturise and tone skin.SK-II facial treatment mask Usually made from super soft, cotton-like materials, the masks hug the contours of the face beautifully, allowing the serums and active ingredients to soak deep in to the skin.

One particular guardian angel of weather-battered skin is the Facial Treatment Mask from SK-II. Drenched in Pitera, a Japanese ferment rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids and organic acids, this mask simply works. So much so in fact, that it was used backstage on models at this year’s Carolina Herrera FW 2015 show in a bitterly cold New York.

For those of us that live in warmer climes, the mask’s cooling effects are great for soothing redness and hydrating parched skin. Pat firm on to the skin and leave to work it’s magic for five to twenty minutes, depending on how much “me-time” you allow yourself. If you prefer a warm mask, place the sealed packet in a hot mug of water for a few minutes, then open and use in the same way.

Though Pitera has a distinctly “yeasty” smell, the mask’s skin-enhancing properties far outshine any unappealing scents. For best effects, use once or twice a week on cleansed skin.

Have you tried this product? Which is your favourite face mask?
